A law proposed by Mary Edly-Allen adds new protections for victims of revenge porn in the wake of the scandal involving former Republican State Rep. Nick Sauer.

Sauer resigned amid accusations that he had posted sexually explicit images of his ex-girlfriend to ‘catfish’ other men online.

“There were some in Springfield that demonstrated they wanted to maintain the status quo and stand on the wrong side of history by fighting against victims’ rights. They should know better. I refused to back down,” Mary said. “This new law is a critical step forward as we work to support victims and deter this type of behavior.”
